Have You Laughed Today?

Have you laughed today?

Studies show that laughter can boost your immune system and release feel-good endorphins.

Being a preschool teacher, I can laugh all day long.

Laughter does not always come easy; it means initially changing your perspective on what may not be so funny.

I have learned to use laughter as a tool to enjoy what may trigger other emotions.

Life can be ridiculous and fun when we are open to letting go and “laughing.”

I took my preschool class on a walk to see a family of ducks near our class. To get to the ducks, we had to cross a dirt path.

There was much complaining about minor bugs and “scary” stuff. I reminded myself that our goal was for the ducks as I listened to their voices.

Suddenly one of the girls yelled, “Miss Suzanne, a pincher bug just crawled in your shoe.” My reaction was quick but not thought out. I screamed, jumped, and threw off my shoe.

Next thing I knew, ten three-year-olds were jumping on me, fearing pincher bugs were all over them.

One of the kids was laughing so hard at the commotion. I then just sat down and started laughing.

Within seconds I had a class of kids sitting beside me, laughing so hard that none of us could get up.

We all kept yelling, “Pincher Bug!”….there never was a pincher bug.

A change in perspective allowed me to find laughter in a moment that could have gone another way.

Studies additionally show that laughter connects us to other people; laughter is contagious. It brings more kindness to our world.

Laughter reduces stress, and it is free!

Did you know you can receive all the benefits of laughter even if you fake it?

Most of all, laughter feels good.

Share a beautiful, loud laugh today!
